You must have heard about Lettuce wraps quite often these days. Popular in Asian cuisines but are now popping up on menus of other restaurants as well. So how could we leave out on them ;). They are often served as an appetizer but we love them as our main course. Why is that?? Simply because it requires a healthy hand while cooking 🙂 and you can do that by using a mix of your favourite vegetables and seasoning and avoid extra carbohydrates by replacing your bread with lettuce. Gosh…that reminds me, I am a bread lover and Sakshi is a health freak. Are you wondering what makes me say that?? Well…. Subway sandwich is like one of her favourite meals and most importantly she keeps trying hard to find healthier ways of eating and dragging me into it is like her hobby. Though I have to confess that she succeeds a lot many times.
So during one of our culinary experiments with veggies, when I was about to put the filling over my bread slice, Sakshi jumped over and replaced it with a Lettuce leaf. I made a face at the thought of it but the mix of cold crunch and warm filling was to die for.
Friends since that day lettuce wraps are cooked quite often in our kitchen. These wraps are made more interesting with addition of our favourite veggie- Broccoli.
Broccoli baked with a little cheese added to these wraps will always bring compliments. It is cooked quite often in our kitchen as a major part of many dishes not only because we both love it but also because eating broccoli is a very good idea. This healthy, tasty vegetable is rich in dozens of nutrients. In fact, it packs the most nutritional punch of any vegetable. Broccolis noteworthy nutrients include vitamins C, vitamin A, calcium and fiber. In fact broccoli is an important calcium source for those who don’t consume dairy products.
