There are hundreds of apple pie recipe variations out there. But instead of tackling traditional apple pie, or apple pie baked in apples, another fun variation we’d love to try 🙂  We decided to put our own little twist on it and try Mini Apple Pies with a crumble top. These Mini Apple Pies with excellent flavour and pastry lattice woven of strips for perfect presentation  did not disappoint, so we are excited to share this recipe with you today 🙂

Honestly foodie friends some time back when we were out for a coffee together. We decided to order apple pie on menu 🙂 To our DSC05368surprise it was this beautiful mini form with a crusty top and apple filling inside. It looked awesome. What we loved the most was  it was small, eatable without making any mess. Also the cinnamon flavour with apples was to die for 🙂 Sipping a cup of tea and coffee with our yum apple pie Sakshi and I used to chit chat and then wonder we wish we could make it. Honestly the pastry lattice woven of strips look so professional and nicely done and complicated that time. But now when we make it ourselves in our kitchen we understand that it just needs a little effort and nothing more than that. If you ask me we are feeling so proud today to present these little apple pies to you all.

An apple pie is a fruit pie (or tart) in which the principal filling ingredient is apples. It is sometimes served with whipped cream or ice cream on top, or alongside cheddar cheese. Pastry is generally used top-and-bottom, making it a double-crust pie, the upper crust of which may be a circular shaped crust or a pastry lattice woven of strips; exceptions are deep-dish apple pie with a top crust only, and open-face Tarte Tatin.

Foodies as we all know Apple Pie is one of those classic all-american, old-fashioned recipes that brings back so many wonderful memories of spending time with family, playing games, and enjoying a slice of apple pie. With a buttery crust, and packed to the brim with spiced apples, it was and still remains a favorite! Everything remaining same the only difference is that a slice of apple pie is now replaced with a homemade mini apple pie 🙂

Apple pies are always a popular dessert – especially when they are served with cream or ice-cream! But for winters it goes perfect with a cup of tea 🙂 Also these mini apple pies will be particularly popular with your kids because they can help you by cutting out each circle of pie dough, or assist in filling each little pie cup. Also the right presentation attracts them to byte it with you 🙂 That reminds me friends when I made them at home my niece was over to my place. She is not so fond of pies she told me once. But the moment I took these out of oven looking at the lattice woven crust and the mini individual pies she jumped out of excitement and said “I too wana have “ The joy on her face made it worth the effort 🙂 So the mini version of apple pie is undoubtedly a hit amongst the kids too 🙂

Foodies talking of the apple pie filling, you can make this pie with any firm textured apple that will not lose its shape when baked. What I often like to do is to mix two or three different varieties of apples which gives the apple pie a wonderfully complex flavor. Once you have sliced the apples, the next step is to macerate them in sugar and spices. Now that’s what makes these so delicious…spices 🙂 Foodies our homemade mini apple pie contains a wholesome of goodness with apples being mixed with cinnamon, honey and jaggery.
