“Weldone Parul… love your little poem.. It is so deep.. proud of you bestie!!!  :)”  Thanks Sakshi…. Hello foodie friends 🙂 Hope you all like it too.. my little effort 🙂 This post undoubtedly goes to all the lovely ladies out there and all the men who love their ladies and want to make them feel special today 😉 Wish you all a very Happy Women’s Day.

Foodie friends as usual caught up with little tight schedules Sakshi and I were trying to figure out what to put for this Women’s Day. When just two days back at my spanish class we were talking about food. From verduraz to pan to frutos to tea time. And thats when we read about Churros in a sentence. My spanish teacher – Professor Carlos as we call him 🙂 was over whelmed and could not stop himself without expressing his love for churros. As to tell some with a blank face that what churros really are , he googled the pics and showed. I too told him that I simply love them and that do make them at home 🙂 He was glad that there was someone who knew and could connect with churros 🙂 And as you know now he is behind the fact that my spanish is getting better day by day 🙂 Have to say ” El es muy dulce y un muy buen profesor :)”

And then what, the very next moment when the class got busy with next lesson my mind was running some where else 🙂 My foodie instinct was wondering of how about putting churros for a special day like this 🙂 Thinking of making churros also took me back in time. My first experience of making these yummy treats at home was with my Sister in law 🙂 I still remember how we were chatting about food which led us to the idea of trying something new 🙂 That very moment she got up in excitement and suggested of making churros. We both started preparing the batter and in no time these yummy addictive treats were made. They turned out too good and delicious. They were loved by all so much that we ended up making one more set of the batter 🙂

Remembering this  made the decision of posting churros pretty firm 🙂 And so here we are with our Womens day special chit chat over a cup of tea or coffee with Churros 🙂

A churro, sometimes referred to as a Spanish doughnut, is a fried-dough pastry—predominantly choux—based snack. Churros are popular in Spain, France, the Philippines, Portugal, Latin America (including Brazil and Spanish-speaking Caribbean islands) and the United States. There are two types of churros in Spain, one which is thin (and sometimes knotted) and the other which is long and thick (porra). They are both normally eaten for breakfast dipped in hot chocolate or café con leche 🙂
Of course a churro isn’t a churro without a cinnamon-sugar shower. But one cannot even stop there. The crispy batons beg to be dipped and dunked, so we have included a quick-fix recipe for warm chocolate dipping sauce 🙂 Dip once, dip twice, or dip three times till they leave you satiated 🙂

Churros are the Spanish equivalent of doughnuts, sold at cafes and at street vendor’s carts. Instead of a ring shape, like a doughnut, churros are long, straight or slightly curled lengths that have ridges. Eaten while warm, sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon or drizzled with honey. They are quick and easy to make. And so they suit best for today. All lovely ladies can quickly make them and enjoy with fellow friends 🙂 These are super quick and easy to make, so all the mens who want to pamper their ladies and make them feel special can quickly get into the kitchen wrap up in no time and surprise their women strength at home 🙂 Trust us the priceless smile on your lovely ladies faces will surely make your day too.

Don’t just wait up start preparing 🙂

Boil the water. Stir in the salt, cinnamon and the baking soda. Sift the flour and add it all at once to the boiling water. Mix it quickly with a wooden spoon. Cover and let cool.

Preheat oil for frying. Put the batter into a cloth funnel (a pastry tube) with a small opening at the end. Exerting a firm and steady pressure, pipe the batter into the oil to form about 6 in(15cm) pieces. Fry until golden. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Serve hot with Spanish hot chocolate.

This batter makes a dozen of them so Enjoy!!!

Place the chopped chocolate in small saucepan.(Do not let it boil.) Pour the heavy cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for one minute then stir to combine.

Enjoy these yummy treats with friends and family. Nothing better than men making it for their ladies 🙂 Have a great day. Let the Women Power celebrate for now and for ever 🙂 God bless 🙂

November has been quite a hectic month with series of events and life going like a roller coaster 🙂 And whatever little time we got we were preparing for the bestest recipes to welcome festive time again. Christmas , New years………. Wow… The winters still settling in.. Its not as cold as we expected in Delhi (India) as of now.. but its just the beginning. With mid December approaching we are sure you all would be getting cosy at home spending more time with family like us 🙂  We love winters ….. as they actually let you stay back with your loved ones and let you dress up in your favourite winter wear 😉 So if the time is so special so has to be our menu 🙂

Beginning this December and keeping in mind the whole family warmth, what we have on our menu today is our top favourite “Apple pie” 🙂 oops!!! Not just apple pie let me rephrase it….. What we have on our menu today is “ mini apple pies 🙂 ” An easy recipe made in a muffin tin, everyone gets to eat their own portion 🙂 ,with perfect presentation they help you present it to your family and friends this festive season 🙂

A classic dessert or tea time treat. This traditional mini apple pies recipe is quick and easy and ensures a perfect result every time 🙂

There are hundreds of apple pie recipe variations out there. But instead of tackling traditional apple pie, or apple pie baked in apples, another fun variation we’d love to try 🙂  We decided to put our own little twist on it and try Mini Apple Pies with a crumble top. These Mini Apple Pies with excellent flavour and pastry lattice woven of strips for perfect presentation  did not disappoint, so we are excited to share this recipe with you today 🙂

Honestly foodie friends some time back when we were out for a coffee together. We decided to order apple pie on menu 🙂 To our DSC05368surprise it was this beautiful mini form with a crusty top and apple filling inside. It looked awesome. What we loved the most was  it was small, eatable without making any mess. Also the cinnamon flavour with apples was to die for 🙂 Sipping a cup of tea and coffee with our yum apple pie Sakshi and I used to chit chat and then wonder we wish we could make it. Honestly the pastry lattice woven of strips look so professional and nicely done and complicated that time. But now when we make it ourselves in our kitchen we understand that it just needs a little effort and nothing more than that. If you ask me we are feeling so proud today to present these little apple pies to you all.

An apple pie is a fruit pie (or tart) in which the principal filling ingredient is apples. It is sometimes served with whipped cream or ice cream on top, or alongside cheddar cheese. Pastry is generally used top-and-bottom, making it a double-crust pie, the upper crust of which may be a circular shaped crust or a pastry lattice woven of strips; exceptions are deep-dish apple pie with a top crust only, and open-face Tarte Tatin.

Foodies as we all know Apple Pie is one of those classic all-american, old-fashioned recipes that brings back so many wonderful memories of spending time with family, playing games, and enjoying a slice of apple pie. With a buttery crust, and packed to the brim with spiced apples, it was and still remains a favorite! Everything remaining same the only difference is that a slice of apple pie is now replaced with a homemade mini apple pie 🙂

Apple pies are always a popular dessert – especially when they are served with cream or ice-cream! But for winters it goes perfect with a cup of tea 🙂 Also these mini apple pies will be particularly popular with your kids because they can help you by cutting out each circle of pie dough, or assist in filling each little pie cup. Also the right presentation attracts them to byte it with you 🙂 That reminds me friends when I made them at home my niece was over to my place. She is not so fond of pies she told me once. But the moment I took these out of oven looking at the lattice woven crust and the mini individual pies she jumped out of excitement and said “I too wana have “ The joy on her face made it worth the effort 🙂 So the mini version of apple pie is undoubtedly a hit amongst the kids too 🙂

Foodies talking of the apple pie filling, you can make this pie with any firm textured apple that will not lose its shape when baked. What I often like to do is to mix two or three different varieties of apples which gives the apple pie a wonderfully complex flavor. Once you have sliced the apples, the next step is to macerate them in sugar and spices. Now that’s what makes these so delicious…spices 🙂 Foodies our homemade mini apple pie contains a wholesome of goodness with apples being mixed with cinnamon, honey and jaggery.

Cinnamon or dalchini is a staple addition to curries, pulav and biryani, but did you ever think that that tiny little bark could protect you from a host of illnesses right from cancer to cough and cold? Well, it sure can. Here are some of the benefits of cinnamon: Helps keep diabetes under check. It can help delay the onset of Alzheimer’s. Cinnamon is packed with a compound known as cinnamomum, which has very strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that make it a great home remedy for arthritic pain. It also helps in improving digestion. All the weight watchers, cinnamon helps with weight loss. Cinnamon is a common spice and flavouring agent but the essential oil it contains also has strong anti-microbial properties which helps in beating acne. Known for its antibiotic and body warming properties, cinnamon is a formidable remedy against a cold and cough.

Jaggery is a traditional uncentrifuged sugar consumed in Asia and Africa. It is a concentrated product of date, cane juice, or palm sap without separation of the molasses and crystals, and can vary from golden brown to dark brown in color. Jaggery is a great remedy for anemia, asthma, joint pains and menstrual pains. It also aids in digestion, purifies blood and keeps the skin away from problems such as acnes and pimples. It is a great energy booster as it provides us lots of energy. If you feel drained at any point of the day, a piece of jaggery with water can do wonders for you.

The benefits of honey go beyond its great taste. A great natural source of carbohydrates which provide strength and energy to our bodies, honey is known for its effectiveness in instantly boosting the performance, endurance and reduce muscle fatigue of athletes. Its natural sugars play an important role in preventing fatigue during exercise. Honey can be a powerful immune system booster. It’s antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties can help improve digestive system and help you stay healthy and fight disease.

Now you know how heathy our apple pie is.

Our favourite part about this entire recipe is the crumble topping – buttery with cinnamon! Yum! You will use your food processor or a fork to combine flour, sugar, butter, and cinnamon together to create the streusel topping.

These little tarts will bake up quickly, only 18-20 minutes until they are perfectly baked! These mini crumb apple pies are perfect for any dessert table  🙂

So foodies if you ever crave a good old-fashioned pie, but think it’s too much of a task to bake a real home-made pie from scratch, crust and all?
